I am a surgeon and a translational scientist in new surgical technologies with expertise in medical device design and development. My main translational research interests include image-guided surgery, surgical robotics and surgical applications of machine and deep learning. During the last 10 years, together with a multidisciplinary team of engineers in biotechnology and computer science, we could attract several public and private grants to run innovative R&D projects, leading to a substantial academic output (more than 250 publications in peer-reviewed journals), several awards and some successful tech transfer case. During the same period, I have been invited to deliver more than 150 talks to international conferences, mostly as keynote or invited speaker. My current ambition, after a transformational Executive MBA experience at the INSEAD, is to move towards a more entrepreneurial career and create a new Venture Building structure with the aim to help closing the gap between academia and market.
